Latex is a LaTeX text generation library for Ruby.

deplate is a ruby based tool for converting documents written in an unobtrusive, wiki-like markup to LaTeX, HTML, "HTML slides", or docbook. It supports page templates, embedded LaTeX code, footnotes, citations, bibliographies, automatic generation of an index, table of contents etc. It can be used to create web pages and (via LaTeX or Docbook) high-quality printouts from the same source. deplate probably isn't suited for highly technical documents or documents that require a sophisticated graphical layout. For other purposes it should work fine. deplate aims to be modular and easily extensible. It is the accompanying converter for the Vim viki plugin. In the family of wiki engines, the choice of markup originated from the emacs-wiki.

KeepYourHead is a latex based flashcard trainer under GPL3. It includes an editor as well as an trainer. Flashcards are build in latex. Latex is a powerful tool for descriping documents. The Flashcards are checked by letting the user judge if he knew the answer well enough.

Converts Word docx files into html or LaTeX via the kramdown syntax. It supports Word's most common paragraph, character and mixed styles (Title, Heading, Strong, Quote), footnotes, line breaks, page breaks, non-breaking spaces and images with captions. BibTeX-Ruby is the Rubyist's swiss-army-knife for all things BibTeX. It includes a parser for all common BibTeX objects (@string, @preamble, @comment and regular entries) and a sophisticated name parser that tokenizes correctly formatted names; BibTeX-Ruby recognizes BibTeX string replacements, joins values containing multiple strings or variables, supports cross-references, and decodes common LaTeX formatting instructions to unicode; if you are in a hurry, it also allows for easy export/conversion to formats such as YAML, JSON, CSL, and XML (BibTeXML).

trex is script simplifying the compilation of latex files by creating proper human-readable error output with repeating patterns. Unlike the original latex output which is oververbosified.
